This year, the meeting will be on the 4th 5th and 6th of August, which is a week earlier than in previous years. Even though I booked it the second week in January, we were beaten to it for our normal dates sadly, but we hope this won't inconvenience anyone.
We will as usual have full use of the function room, and the bar during opening hours. Anyone that has been to Squires knows that there is a pretty full menu of hot and cold food, and proper sized mugs of tea and coffee, all at very reasonable prices.
We always welcome kids at the meeting, and Squires does have a room full of arcade type games to keep the kids happy. There's also the pool table, and if the weather is good, there is loads of outside space too.
Harry has said we can camp for free again, and we will have full use of the showers and toilets in the campsite. These wiil (I promise!) be open all night.
This year so far, we haven't settled on a programme of talks and/or events, but we do have a committee meeting coming up soon, and we will discuss all and any ideas. We'll definitely have the 'Tea at Three' as we feel this is a good starting off point for any other event to follow, and gets everyone together. As soon as we have a few things worked out, I will upload the details here, and on the messageboards. I do have a few surprises up my sleeve, but more about these later! ;0)
For those of you who do not want to camp overnight, there are quite a few B x B's, guesthouses and reasonably priced hotels nearby. A list of these are on THIS PAGE
Squires is very easy to find, being just off the AI near Selby in Yorkshire. There has been extensive roadworks around there in recent years, making the maps I have out of date. I will update the maps as soon as we can, but meanwhile, THESE maps will show exactly where Squires is.
Anyway, thats about it for now. I'll add more later as and when the committee have settled on the events for the meeting.
